Boulder line
“Boulder Line” is part of a series entitled “Cut-ups”.
This series of plywood constructions takes its name from the technique pioneered by the Dadaists and later adopted by writers like William S. Burroughs — the practice of slicing apart a text and reassembling its fragments into unexpected new arrangements. Here, that logic is translated into wood and form: materials cut, reconfigured, and rejoined to explore the language of landscape. Made specifically for this space and conceived as a mobile, Boulder Line activates the small dimensions of the site — the work moving between tension and openness, containment and expanse, borders drawn and redrawn across planes of movement, echoing the charged realities of land ownership, eminent domain, and the boundary lines that divide what was once continuous.
